Theme: A Letter to My Future Self
This is our first annual writing contest 2025/25 Q2. In this year’s contest we’re asking young writers to write a letter to their future self.
Imagine it’s a year, five years, or even 20 years from now. What would you want to say to yourself? What goals do you hope to reach? What advice or encouragement would you give?
This letter is your chance to reflect on who you are today and dream about who you’re becoming!
Who Can Enter
Homeschool Safari students and community members in the following age groups are invited to participate:
- Grades PreK–2: May dictate their letter or handwrite it with help.
- Grades 3–6: Write their own letter independently with light feedback.
All homeschoolers, co-op students, and microschool learners are welcome with a small donation.
Important Dates
- Contest Opens: October 20, 2025
- Deadline to Submit: December 19, 2025 at 5pm PST
Winners will be announced during our Homeschool Safari Community Call and featured on our website and social media!
Writing Guidelines
- Format: Your entry should be in letter form (“Dear Future Me,” … “Love, [Your Name]”).
- Word Count:
- K–2: 60–200 words (drawings or photos welcome!)
- 3–6: 200–500 words (drawings or photos welcome!)
- Topic: Write about your goals, dreams, lessons learned, or what you hope your future self remembers.
- Original Work: The letter must be your own words. Parents may help with spelling and typing.
- One Entry per Student.
Prizes
Each age group PreK-2nd and 3rd-6th will have:
- 🥇 1st Place: $20 Gift Card
- 🥈 2nd Place: $15 Gift Card
- 🥉 3rd Place: $10 Gift Card
- 🌟 Finalists: Recognition in our online showcase
All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation for their effort and creativity!
How to Submit
- Write your letter using a word processor or neatly on paper.
- Save as a PDF, DOCX, or clear photo (for handwritten K–2 letters).
- Upload to the Parent Forum to the section titled “Writing Submissions” or email your entry to info@homeschoolsafari.com with the subject line:
“Writing Contest – [Child’s First Name, Grade]” - Include parent name, child’s name, age, and grade when you submit your entry.
