Fry Sight Words 11-20

Practice Fry Sight Words 11–20

This interactive reading activity helps students practice Fry sight words 11–20. These high-frequency words are commonly found in early readers, simple sentences, and beginning reading passages.

In this activity, students will practice reading and recognizing these words:

he, was, for, on, are, as, with, his, they, I

These words are important because students will see them again and again as they begin reading more complete sentences. When children can recognize sight words quickly, they can read more smoothly and focus more on understanding the meaning of the text.

How to Use This Activity

Have your child read each word out loud as they complete the activity. If a word is difficult, pause and practice it together. After the activity, ask your child to use a few of the words in simple sentences, such as:

He was on the bus.
They are with me.
I can read this word.

Students can repeat the activity for extra review. Short, consistent practice helps children build confidence and remember sight words more easily.

Extra Practice Ideas

For additional practice, write the words on index cards and review them for a few minutes each day. You can also ask your child to find these words in a book, copy them into a notebook, or build simple sentences using two or three words from the list.

This activity works well for homeschool reading lessons, independent practice, tutoring, literacy centers, or quick daily review. It is a simple way to help children strengthen sight word recognition and grow as confident readers.
